Discover Ischia with our rental car
Ischia is not only one of the most famous holiday destination in Italy, it’s much more!
It is a place where man and nature, relax and fun, story and mythology meet creating a magical atmosphere! According to history, its foundation dates back to 775 B.C. as first colony of Magna Graecia, whereas mythology places it at the battle between Zeus and his father Kronos.
During the attempt to bring back Kronos on the throne of the Gods, Tartarus and Gaia gave birth to the giant Typhon. Unfortunately, he was harshly defeated by Zeus and forced to lie forever under the burden of the Island of Ischia. Despite the defeat, Typhon didn’t give up, he transformed his breath into a volcano, provoking from time to time eruptions and earthquakes.
The very first thing to visit once you step into Ischia is the Aragonese Castle, the real symbol of the island. Placed on a rocky island of volcanic origin, it is accessible from the village of Ischia Ponte, thanks to an isthmus made by stones created by Afonso V of Aragon. The castle offers a breathtaking view of the offshore and of the eastern coast. The second most suggestive place to visit in Ischia is the church of Soccorso sheer on the sea. Positioned on a promontory and surrounded on three sides by the sea, it is known all over the world for its peculiar façade and for its staircase made with gemstones dating back to the XVIII century.
Ischia is a real paradise for the seaside lovers. The 3 km long Maronti beach is the ideal place where kids and teenagers can play and practice sports on the seashore. San Montano bay, at only 10 minutes by car from our office, is one of the most marvelous places on the entire island, thanks to the rich Mediterranean vegetation and to the splendid low sea bottoms. However, the most peculiar beach is Sorgeto bay where the thermal water at 90 degrees creates small natural swimming pools that mix with the fresh water of the sea. Aren’t you convinced yet? Then you should visit the rest of the really famous beaches of Ischia: Citara, Chiaia, San Francesco, Cava dell’Isola, dei Pescatori and many more.
